Crack The Shell
Meet Who You Are
No one really knows the real you, until you let them.
Our masks remain strong, protecting us from the outside world.
Too afraid that someone might see, what it means to be me.
We grow up light and playful, until the view of the world distorts our own.
Voices influence who we are, and who we choose to become.
Life plays this interesting game of separating us from the truth, only to spend most of our adult life returning to our core.
So we build a shell around us. A quiet protection from the pain.
Until one day, it starts to crack.
Unhealed parts rise to the surface.
The mask begins to fall apart.
And life breaks us open.
…
Not many of us choose this path.
Not many of us dare to ask: who am I, really? (beneath this façade).
Yet, so many of us feel the ache.
The pain of disconnection.
The angst of loneliness.
A lack of intimacy, not just with others, but with ourselves.
How can we truly meet others, if we haven’t fully met ourselves?
How can we truly love, without knowing it within?
…
I hate to break it to you, but the clichés are true.
Disney had it right all along.
Love yourself.
Celebrate who you are.
Stop hiding.
Be you.
Here’s a brilliant post from a Substack creator, that spoke to me so much:
Happiness isn’t something you find through comparison.
It isn’t something you reach by looking outward.
Happiness is remembering who you are, and building a life around that.
Not a checklist for society.
Not a performance of “good enough.”
A life that soothes your soul.

Real belonging can only exist when we're brave enough to meet and show our real self.
